WP3 – Indicators in Sector Policies
The aim of this work package is to conduct an in-depth analysis of the use and influence of indicators in specific sectors and specific contexts, with specific focus on the integration of environment into sector policies. Case studies will be conducted in three areas:
rural development and agri-environmental policies in Denmark and Slovakia
- energy policies in the UK
- transport policies in Sweden or Denmark
Issues to be studied include the use and non-use of indicators in various phases of policy making, the relevance of indicators to policy objectives, the importance of the methods for design and production for the stakeholders’ perception of relevance, and stakeholder expectations to indicators.
The approach is not one of classic comparison of the processes in different countries, within the given sector. Instead, the validity of the assumptions and hypotheses about indicator use and influence in different context, constructed in WP2, will be tested through case studies.
